“We are the advent people, waiting for His coming and His coming again. And we are the hope people.” Ann Voskamp
Advent is the season of anticipation. It’s a microcosm of our lives as we await Christ’s return.
But our journey is as though we walk a path through a forest. The trees are beautiful in daylight. But the nights dark. And the distractions are many.
It is easy for us to lose our way.
In this season, the distractions are as easy to focus on as the twinkling lights on our trees. Our to-dos overwhelm us. Our work piles on. Our stress hormones smother love.
The One we wait for doesn’t call us to a holiday mess. He calls us to grace and peace. To anticipation of permanent and unrelenting peace.
Stay on the path. See the lights. But look for the star. The star that reminds us that our goal is not perfection in this season, but anticipation, preparation for the next.
For his people, the next season will be the perfect one–the one without overwhelming lists, onerous work, and smothered love.
This is the season to reveal His love in peace and with the wonder and anticipation of waiting children.
See the glow. Feel the love. Stand still in His peace.
